Title: The Convergence of Sensing, Communications, Computing, Intelligentization and Storage (SCCIS): A Holistic Design Approach
Dr. Yuguang “Michael” Fang received MS degree from Qufu Normal University, Shandong, China in 1987, PhD degree from Case Western Reserve University in 1994 and PhD degree from Boston University in 1997. He was an assistant professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at New Jersey Institute of Technology from 1998 to 2000. He then joined the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at University of Florida in 2000 as an assistant professor, then was promoted to an associate professor in 2003 and a full professor in 2005 and has been a distinguished professor since 2019. He held University of Florida Research Foundation (UFRF) Professorship (2006-2009, 2017-2020), University of Florida Preeminence Term Professorship (2019-2022), and University of Florida Term Professorship (2017-2019, 2019-2021).
Dr. Fang received the US National Science Foundation Career Award in 2001 and the Office of Naval Research Young Investigator Award in 2002, 2018 IEEE Vehicular Technology Outstanding Service Award, 2019 Communications Society AHSN Technical Achievement Award, 2015 IEEE Communications Society CISTC Technical Recognition Award, 2014 IEEE Communications Society WTC Recognition Award, and multiple Best Paper Awards from IEEE Globecom (2015, 2011 and 2002) and IEEE ICNP (2006). He has also received the 2019 ECE Faculty Excellence Award in Research, 2010-2011 UF Doctoral Dissertation Advisor/Mentoring Award, and the 2009 UF College of Engineering Faculty Mentoring Award. He served as the Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology (2013-2017) and IEEE Wireless Communications (2009-2012), and serves/served on several editorial boards of journals including the Proceedings of the IEEE (2018-present), ACM Computing Surveys (2017-present), IEEE Transactions on Mobile Computing (2003-2008, 2011-2016), IEEE Transactions on Communications (2000-2011), and IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications (2002-2009). He has been actively participating in conference organizations such as serving as the Technical Program Co-Chair for IEEE INFOCOM’2014 and the Technical Program Vice-Chair for IEEE INFOCOM’2005. He is the Director of Magazines of IEEE Communications Society and a Distinguished Speaker of IEEE Vehicular Technology. He is a fellow of the IEEE (2008) and a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) (2015).
Sensing collects data for information, communications transport data for premise consumption, computing computes on data and intelligentization extracts and instills intelligence for decision making and control, while storage provides enough buffering zones for optimization, all together serve on certain purpose to fulfill the final goal for optimal performance of desired operations. How to put all things together and come up with a holistic design approach to achieve the design goal is the topic of this talk. By using Vehicles-as-a-Service (VaaS) as an example, the speaker will articulate how to leverage connected and autonomous vehicles (CAVs) to design powerful Internet of Vehicles (IoV) to provide an economically sound alternative solution to realizing the vision of smart city.

Title: Security Schemes for Healthcare Devices in the IoT Era
Mohsen Guizani (S’85–M’89–SM’99–F’09) received the B.S. (with distinction) and M.S. degrees in electrical engineering, the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in computer engineering from Syracuse University, Syracuse, NY, USA, in 1984, 1986, 1987, and 1990, respectively. He is currently a Professor at the Computer Science and Engineering Department in Qatar University, Qatar. Previously, he served in different academic and administrative positions at the University of Idaho, Western Michigan University, University of West Florida, University of Missouri-Kansas City, University of Colorado-Boulder, and Syracuse University. His research interests include wireless communications and mobile computing, computer networks, mobile cloud computing, security, and smart grid. He is currently the Editor-in-Chief of the IEEE Network Magazine, serves on the editorial boards of several international technical journals and the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Wireless Communications and Mobile Computing journal (Wiley). He is the author of nine books and more than 600 publications in refereed journals and conferences. He guest edited a number of special issues in IEEE journals and magazines. He also served as a member, Chair, and General Chair of a number of international conferences. Throughout his career, he received three teaching awards and four research awards. He is the recipient of the 2017 IEEE Communications Society Wireless Technical Committee (WTC) Recognition Award, the 2018 AdHoc Technical Committee Recognition Award for his contribution to outstanding research in wireless communications and Ad-Hoc Sensor networks and the 2019 IEEE Communications and Information Security Technical Recognition (CISTC) Award for outstanding contributions to the technological advancement of security. He was the Chair of the IEEE Communications Society Wireless Technical Committee and the Chair of the TAOS Technical Committee. He served as the IEEE Computer Society Distinguished Speaker and is currently the IEEE ComSoc Distinguished Lecturer. He is a Fellow of IEEE and a Senior Member of ACM.

Yi-Bing Lin is Winbond Chair Professor of National Chiao Tung University (NCTU). He received his Bachelor’s degree from National Cheng Kung University, Taiwan, in 1983, and his Ph.D. from the University of Washington, USA, in 1990. From 1990 to 1995 he was a Research Scientist with Bellcore (Telcordia). He then joined NCTU, where he remains. In 2011, Lin became the Vice President of NCTU. Since 2014, Lin has been appointed as the Deputy Minister of Ministry of Science and Technology, Taiwan. After 2016, he become a lifetime Chair Professor of NCTU. After 2019, he become Winbond Chair Professor of NCTU.
Lin is the author of the books Wireless and Mobile Network Architecture (Wiley, 2001), Wireless and Mobile All-IP Networks (John Wiley,2005), and Charging for Mobile All-IP Telecommunications (Wiley, 2008). Lin received numerous research awards including 2005 NSC Distinguished Researcher, 2006 Academic Award of Ministry of Education and 2008 Award for Outstanding contributions in Science and Technology, Executive Yuen, 2011 National Chair Award, and TWAS Prize in Engineering Sciences, 2011 (The World Academy of Sciences). Lin is AAAS Fellow, ACM Fellow, IEEE Fellow, and IET Fellow.

Title: Wireless Multi-Robot Systems in Smart Factories
Kwang-Cheng Chen has been a Professor at the Department of Electrical Engineering, University of South Florida, since 2016. From 1987 to 2016, Dr. Chen worked with SSE, Communications Satellite Corp., IBM Thomas J. Watson Research Center, National Tsing Hua University, HP Labs., and National Taiwan University in mobile communications and networks. He visited TU Delft (1998), Aalborg University (2008), Sungkyunkwan University (2013), and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (2012-2013, 2015-2016). He founded a wireless IC design company in 2001, which was acquired by MediaTek Inc. in 2004. He has been actively involving in the organization of various IEEE conferences and serving editorships with a few IEEE journals (most recently as a series editor on Data Science and AI for Communications in the IEEE Communications Magazine), together with various IEEE volunteer services to the IEEE, Communications Society, Vehicular Technology Society, and Signal Processing Society, such as founding the Technical Committee on Social Networks in the IEEE Communications Society. Dr. Chen also has contributed essential technology to various international standards, namely IEEE 802 wireless LANs, Bluetooth, LTE and LTE-A, 5G-NR, and ITU-T FG ML5G. He has authored and co-authored over 300 IEEE publications, 4 books published by Wiley and River (most recently, Artificial Intelligence in Wireless Robotics, 2019), and more than 23 granted US patents. Dr. Chen is an IEEE Fellow and has received a number of awards including 2011 IEEE COMSOC WTC Recognition Award, 2014 IEEE Jack Neubauer Memorial Award, 2014 IEEE COMSOC AP Outstanding Paper Award. Dr. Chen’s current research interests include wireless networks, artificial intelligence and machine learning, IoT/CPS, social networks and data analytics, quantum photonic computing and communications, and cybersecurity.
